best thing I have read all week

Damrosch surreptitiously kept an eye out for women who might be pregnant through observation: "The salmon cornet usually gave it away because most pregnant American women are deathly afraid of anything raw. Immediately we sent them a cornet made with tomato confit and eggplant caviar."

Less impressive was the superfluous and defensive recount of her romantic interlude with a fellow server. Indeed, some flowers are best left alone.

it's a book about service from a former waitress at per se. I am very excited to read it.

per se is thomas keller's new york outpost. 4 stars in the times! three michelin stars! honestly! do you live under a rock or something!?

and no, I do not have the book. I emailed the london public library to request it. I eagerly await their reply.
