my scathing review, however, is done.
with no waiter nor food in sight, I ambled over to the lobby to have a chat with the maitre d’, who was nowhere to be found; I was instead left to chat with the bartender:
“Is the manager around?”
“I’m afraid not at the moment. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Well, to be frank, the service is really unbelievable tonight"
"Unbelievably good?" he unbelievably asked.

Scathing!
In other news, I had dinner at the newly opened Harbord Room a couple of weeks ago, and recommend a visit. The food was quite good, though my medium-rare stake was a touch too medium at the thin end.
I am sure you had a far better experience at the harbord room, overcooked steak notwithstanding. I am now more eager than ever to try it!
