if weekends were judged in foie gras ravioli and cashmere earmuffs, then it would have been a very good weekend indeed.

I think I pulled a muscle last night while pounding out christmas carols on the piano. two take home messages from this incident:
1) I will probably need some time off work. I think a good week of bed rest and daytime tv would get me back into top form.
2) I am fully in the christmas spirit. bring on the nog.

today was my last day in clinic here in wingham. it went pretty well, really. saw some patients, wore my stethoscope around, talked to some old people, drank some coffee, pretended to listen to a few hearts, ate some cake. if it weren't for the pap smears, I could get used to this.

who died and gave stacy london a talk show? is it not enough that daytime television is thoroughly polluted with rachael ray's self-indulgent dreck? must her mildly less impaired, though equally obnoxious, sister also grace our screens for an hour each day? if one of the what not to wear hosts was to get a talk show, who on earth chose nails-on-chalkboard stacy over amusingly effete clinton?

I am not 100% sure that wingham is anywhere near walkerton but they sound pretty similar to me and if walkerton can get e. coli why not wingham? so now I am terrified of getting e. coli from the drinking water and I have not been drinking enough and now I am thoroughly dehydrated.

wingham rush hour is so cute. for about a block there, it was fully stop-and-go traffic as at least half a dozen cars pulled out of the tim hortons parking lot and another two or three nosed their way out of the complimentary roadside parking. I think I almost got road rage.

away from the oppressive tyranny of mila, simon is free to consume egg nog at any time that he might wish. and he wishes now. and so he is drinking a nice tall glass of breakfast nog, his very first of the season, and it is delicious.
p.s. I was slightly put off by this new non-refrigerated nog at loblaws, but other than the fact that one must now patiently wait for the nog to chill before consuming, this new nog seems quite satisfactory. if anything, even richer than before - do I detect butter notes?

mila really cannot be left home alone. I am back in wingham for only one day and she goes and creates this one-dish abomination. using leftovers I made, no less:
mila's curry in a hurry
1) heat oil in frying pan (non-stick, or stick if non-stick still dirty in sink)
2) add leftover asian noodles; move around with tongs
3) make and add chicken broth; tong some more
4) add curry powder and liza's lizano costa rican curry sauce; more tongs
5) add frozen corn
6) add leftover zucchini
7) add leftover lemongrass curry chicken
8) clean tongs with spoon; taste curry
9) serve
10) enjoy!
