if I ate enough pretzels and cheese ritz, would I get fat enough to hibernate? in the interest of scientific inquiry, I should at the very least go polish off that package of vanilla wafers.

the cold here in montreal is having the same effect on me of increased starch intake. tonight i ate both fries and pizza. (sorry, simon's mom - I usually eat a lot of vegetables, so don't worry about my health!)
mila, they were totally awesome shoestring fries from the fry joint a block away from our apartment. cute waiters and they put your fries in a little wooden box with lime green tissue paper.
the pizza was president's choice brie and porcini mushroom stone baked individual pizza. topped with bechamel sauce, porcinis, brie, and i added some extra tomato slices - you and simon should buy it. it rocks.
I fear I've probably eaten the enite layer of a Danish Cookie tin at least twice...and I had fries yesterday (and awful low-brow McDo fries at that). With the closure of Bloor St's healthier fast food joints (Pita Pit, Subway, Booster Juice) to make room for "Socialites, Scholars, Curators and Kings," us plebs have few food options left other than Golden Arches, awful Chinese buffet, or Pho Hung - none of which are known for being low-carb...
I beg to differ, Lukie. Have you not tried those low-fat, low-carb oriental salads at McD's? As artificial as those leafy greens may be, they're still technically not bad for you. Conversely, Bar Mercurio still serves up a mean $10 caesar salad.
As for the danish cookie paradox, if "you are what you eat", then we are all ginormous sticks of melted, super-salted, non-homogenized butter. Butter with heart palpatations and other medical irregularities.

mmmm, jealous!!!!
now this is my type of food post!
what kind of fries were they? what was on your pizza?
I am glad that you eat healthy food, bronwen. It sounds as though Simon is hitting bottom. He needs to join ECEA - excessive carb eaters anonymous.
Or dear lord. You've resorted to eating those 99-cent Hollandia Wafers that were once such a marquee treat during a G's run, haven't you.
First Coke Zero. Now vanilla wafers. What's next on the hit list: a whole layer in a Danish Cookie tin?

that sounds delicious! we like the president's choice thin crust ham and sweet onion pizza.
dear mom, I had brussels sprouts and chick peas AND tofu last night for dinner.
anonymous: I see nothing wrong with eating a whole layer in a danish cookie tin. please explain.
bronwen, do they give you that sweet wooden box for takeout!?
I really want a deep fryer. gift idea!
yes, you can take out the little wooden box! it's awesome.
